NEW POKEMON
TCG-EX RULES (6/18/03):
Note: These
are not WotC nor DCI Guidelines
1. Mulligans at startup are reduced
to drawing only one card, not two.
2. The player who chooses
to go first skips their first draw card step.
3. Confused Pokemon can now
retreat normally without having to flip a coin. They still must pay the normal retreat
cost.
4. Confusion now "places
3 counters" instead of "doing 20 damage". Weakness & Resistance
therefore no longer applies, and Metal Energy & Defender no longer protect.
5. Retreating your Active
Pokemon is now an action that can only be done once per turn. You can still use trainer
cards such as DoubleGust and Switch; they do not count for this restriction. But
using Balloon Berry does count as part of your once-per-turn retreat.
6. Darkness & Metal Energy
only give their special effects to Pokemon of the corresponding type (bye-bye "Metal
Chansey"). The other drawbacks to those energy types have been removed. Darkness
& Metal cards will be worded with, "Ignore this effect unless the Attacking
Pokemon is {D} or has Dark in its name" and "Ignore this effect if the
Pokemon that Metal energy is attached to isn't {M}". So Darkness Energy on a
non-Dark Pokemon will neither help it nor hurt it.
7. Players are now limited
to playing one Stadium card each turn.
8. Finally, the 2-on-2 Battle
mode is not a team multiplayer mode. Instead you basically get to play with 2 Active
Pokemon instead of only one. Just like in the GameBoy game.
